Once a year, the University of Stuttgart opens its laboratory doors. This year they will be opening online from 21 to 24 June 2021. Exciting research topics will be presented, focusing on the question of what career opportunities the future will bring, and how the University of Stuttgart can prepare its students. Whether you are interested in AI, sustainability, mobility, or simulation technologies: we are training the problem solvers who will go on to solve the problems of the future!

In addition to its Science Days event, the University of Stuttgart will also be holding a further online event, to give prospective students insight into the Bachelor's study programs on offer. The digital Bachelor's Application Week [de] from June 28 to July 2, 2021, will provide prospective students with a wealth of information about the Bachelor's study program at the University of Stuttgart. All of the events taking place in this week will be held online between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm

Wednesday, 23.06., 7:30 pm

Joint lecture: "How data is changing the world: Perspectives from the two Stuttgart Clusters of Excellence"

It is impossible to imagine cutting-edge research, and even our daily lives, without data, especially large data volumes. Data alters many things, and it also makes a mostly invisible contribution, remaining in the background until the results become visible. In their joint lecture, the two Stuttgarter-based Clusters of Excellence "Integrative computational design and construction for architecture (IntCDC)" and "Data-integrated simulation science (SimTech)" demonstrate the interdisciplinary role that data plays in both clusters and how it is used in cluster research, from the perspectives of the fields of social science, biophysics and data visualization.

The speakers are:

  • Dr. Yana Boeva, Post-doctoral researcher, Institute of Social Science, Cluster of Excellence IntCDC
  • Prof. Dr. Syn Schmitt, Institute for Modelling and Simulation of Biomechanical Systems. With his research interests, he is active at the university and beyond in the Cyber Valley consortium, Europe's largest research organization in the field of artificial intelligence, the Cluster of Excellence SimTech
  • Prof. Dr. Michael Sedlmair, holder of the Cyber Valley professorship for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality at the Visualization Research Center of the University of Stuttgart (VISUS), Clusters of Excellence SimTech & IntCDC
