Research

My work involved tasks defined within the scope of the Exascale Fluid-Structure-Acoustics Interaction project (DFG-SPP 1648). One of the goals of this project is to develop efficient and interactive solutions for handling and visualizing data generated during a large scale simulation. More specifically, this involves "in-situ" preprocessing of data at node level, and data reduction in general, while maintaining the high quality and detail computed by the simulation. Another key task is developing new methods to analyse/visualize phenomena occurring if a fluid-structure simulation is additionally coupled to far field acoustics.

For the TRR161 A02:Quantifying Visual Computing Systems  project, we work on developing performance models for predicting and optimizing resources given a certain data set configuration, visual computing technique, system architecture and display condition.

The main goal of the TaLPaS project is to provide a solution to fast and robust simulation of many, potentially dependent particle systems in a distributed environment. For the visualization subproject, this involves efficient handling of a large number of simulation results in comparison, as well as supporting the fault tolerance effort, e.g. by reseaching and implementing new data representations to minimize resources for a checkpointing scheme
