In 2025, IEEE VIS once again brings together visualization researchers and practitioners from universities, government, and industry to discuss their newest findings on the design and use of visualization tools. This year, the premier conference on visualization and visual analytics is held in Vienna, Austria.

With an acceptance rate of generally below 25%, IEEE VIS is highly selective. We are thus very proud to see the Institute for Visualization and Interactive Systems (VIS) and the Visualization Research Center (VISUS) represented with numerous contributions at both the general conference and the conference workshops.

Further Contributions to IEEE VIS 2025

VIS and VISUS researchers are also actively involved in the IEEE VIS 2025 program in other formats. The second workshop on “Multimodal Experiences for Remote Communication Around Data Online (MERCADO)” is co-organized by Wolfgang Büschel, postdoctoral researcher at VISUS. Michael Sedlmair, Professor for Augmented and Virtual Reality at VISUS, participates as a panelist in the panel discussion “IEEE VIS Reviewing - On a Path to Self-Destruction?”. The panel “VisAble: Who do we exclude by current visualization practices and how do we change that?” is co-organized by Nina Dörr, Sita Vriend, Katrin Angerbauer, and Michael Sedlmair. David Hägele participates in the SciVis Contest 2025 with “Aludrill: Visual Analytics for Exploring Scrap-Based Aluminium Alloy Simulations with Drilldown”. Katrin Angerbauer organizes the meetup “VISability Meetup: Disabled and Accessibility Researchers at VIS”.

We wish all our researchers a successful time at IEEE VIS 2025!
