VR Expo 2018: Trade Fair on Virtual and Augmented Reality at Campus Vaihingen

The VR Expo was opening her doors from 5th to 6th July 2018 in the ARENA 2036 at the Campus Vaihingen. The Trade Fair is hosted by lightshape and the VDC (Virtual Dimension Center), a Partner of the Federal Network Mechatronics BW, together with Daimler Inc.

The event focussed on the latest evolutions in Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies with Eye Tracking, HoloLens and VR glasses. The visitors also participated in various lectures and tech talks which were surrounding the event and reflected on the VR and AR technologies available today. They also had the chance to test virtual reality installations like the cave or to have a close look on the virtual reality labs.

At the VISUS, the visitors experienced the visualisations of the SFB 716 with the virtual reality glasses and the HoloLens: The movie of the exhibition "In the digital laboratory" was especially modelled for virtual reality applications in a 3D projection. A special highlight was the Powerwall, unique in Europe not only by its size (two to six meters), its very high resolution (ten 4K projectors) but also by its procession power.
