Titel

Augmented reality (overlaying digital information on the real world) and tangible interaction (interaction with the digital world through the use of physical objects) have obtained a lot of attention in Human-Computer Interaction in the past years. However, in the field of Assistive Technology they have less often been employed and thus many questions remain unanswered. In this talk I will present some projects in which we have made use of these technologies, mainly for making geographic maps accessible to visually impaired people.

Short bio

Anke Brock is Assistant Professor in Human-Computer Interaction at Inria Bordeaux, France. Previously, she has been a Postdoctoral Researcher at IRIT Toulouse, France, and has obtained a PhD (2013) and a Master's Degree (2010) in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Toulouse. Before this, Dr. Brock has worked as an Engineer in Research & Development at Bosch (Hildesheim, Germany), working on navigation systems and driver assistance systems. She also holds an engineering diploma in Information Technology from Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (Stuttgart, Germany, 2004). Dr. Brock has received awards for her research, among them in 2012 the Google Anita Borg EMEA scholarship.
